Great Room – Great Location-

Aft facing, totally covered, private balcony with an awesome view of the wake .. slight vibration, but other than that, soothing waterfall sound from the wake – glorious ! At the end of a private hall — LOVE THIS CABIN !!!
Recently had this cabin, & the curtain in the shower stall did not fit properly. As a result, we had a wet carpet at the entrance for 12 nights. I had plumbing look at it to make sure it was not something that could be fixed, he said no, it was the curtain.
However, on this huge ship, there was not one replacement curtain available. Hopefully they have it fixed by now; it was aggravating to say the least.
Its the first extended balcony on the row- when standing at the rail there will be a wall to your right. The people in the regular balcony cabin that is next to you will be able to peek around into your balcony.
Tiny room, useless window.
When we complained about being upgraded to this room (on a b2b) and got no joy from the pursers desk, we sent a letter to Princess. This was their reply:
“Your stateroom is listed as having the bed against the wall, with entrance on one side only.” – never have I ever read any room description like that-
As for the “unobstrusted view” – “that is determined by what is seen through the window of the stateroom when looking straight ahead from inside the door of the accommodations.”
We also had to deal with the noise of the anchor chains and bow thrusters but that comes with the location – the size and useless window were the surprise.
It’s a nice room, BUT….
It’s right underneath one of the dining rooms (as are all the rooms on this end of this deck), so when the waiters are dancing during dinner, man, do you hear it!
ALSO – as the room closest to the elevators, you DO hear them ding-ding-dinging ALL NIGHT LONG (and this would apply to the 1A rooms closest to the elevators on other decks as well)
Also, what’s up with the fake window and curtain in an inside cabin? Why not just put a mirror or a nice picture there? Who do they think they’re fooling?
If you’re on RC Splendour, stay away from 8559! It sits underneath a very heavy door and all night long we heard…..squeeeeeeek……SLAM! I was pulling my hair out by the end of the trip!
